Aerification Completion Ahead of Schedule

Greens aerification was finished last night ahead of schedule.  Perfect weather (sun, wind, and low humidity) allowed us to work the sand in much more efficiently than anticipated.  A huge thanks to the staff for their tremendous effort.   sand application to #18 green sand drying on #9 green aerifying #5 green aerifying #14 green rolling #18 green changing cup on #15 green finished product on #6 green

The grass is always greener...

...on the other side of 3.5" of rain.  The golf course has really greened up in the last couple days.  It still remains saturated from this week's storms.  We have been pumping water all week and have made great progress.  The rest will remain up to Mother Nature.  The extended forecast looks favorable for some drying in the days to come.  We are assessing conditions daily and will get carts on the course as soon as conditions merit.  It was dry enough today to strategically move around the course to prepare it for the weekend. Today's tasks include: mowing greens rolling greens cutting cups mowing tees, collars, and approaches raking bunkers opening course bathrooms mowing #5 green rolling #2 green raking #18 bunkers mowing #18 approach changing cups on #2

The Usual Suspects

April is off to a wet start.  Storms over the last five days have left the golf course extremely saturated.  Rain accumulations have exceeded 3" with more forecasted tonight and tomorrow.  Standing water sits on most areas of the golf course.  The usual suspects (#3, #5, #7, #9, #11, and #18) are the worse areas. Context is always important on the golf course.  To put rain totals in perspective: Rain Totals 4/1/22-4/30/22 = 2.61" Rain Totals 4/1/21-4/30/21 = 1.68"  #2 green bank #3 fairway #5 fairway #6 rough #7 rough  #7 green bank #10 tee #10 green bank Although the rain this week has derailed our original plans on the golf course, there are always tasks to be completed.  Course clean-up and ornamental bed clean-up has been the focus this week. In an unrelated topic, greens aerification is scheduled for Monday 4/10 and Tuesday 4/11, weather permitting.  On Tuesday 4/11, only 9 holes will be open.
