The month is off to a wet and windy start.  Over an 1.25" of rain and high winds made for quite the mess this weekend.  We cleaned up a lot of debris including two large willow limbs that fell behind #12 green and across #13 tee. willow limb that fell across #13 tee willow limb that fell behind #12 green Post-aerification update:   The greens have healed in nicely from aerification.  We made a slight adjustment to our process this year and applied the sand at a shallower depth.  It has made a noticeable improvement in the firmness of the greens. Greens aerification on Monday and Tuesday was successful.  The weather was absolutely perfect.  The sun and wind dried the sand nicely and made it easier to work the sand into the aerification holes.  We aerified at a 2" depth which is shallower than normal.  We wanted to concentrate as much sand as we could in the top 2" of the profile to help firm up the greens.  The playability and firmness of the greens will be much better. topdressing #2 green aerifying #6 green blowing sand into the aerification holes on #16 finished green on #11

Spring aerification of the greens is scheduled for next Monday and Tuesday, April 23-24. The weather looks like it is finally turning in a warmer direction.  I would expect the aerification holes to heal quite quickly if the extended forecast holds true.
