Aerification Success

Greens aerification on Monday and Tuesday was successful.  The weather was absolutely perfect.  The sun and wind dried the sand nicely and made it easier to work the sand into the aerification holes.  We aerified at a 2" depth which is shallower than normal.  We wanted to concentrate as much sand as we could in the top 2" of the profile to help firm up the greens.  The playability and firmness of the greens will be much better. topdressing #2 green aerifying #6 green blowing sand into the aerification holes on #16 finished green on #11

Spring Aerification

Spring aerification of the greens is scheduled for next Monday and Tuesday, April 23-24. The weather looks like it is finally turning in a warmer direction.  I would expect the aerification holes to heal quite quickly if the extended forecast holds true.

Interesting Week

Last week started with snow and ended with 2.25" of rain.  Needless to say, the golf course is quite saturated. #2 green on 4/10/18 #5 fairway on 4/16/18 Despite the poor start and finish to the week, we did have a few nice days in between that were quite productive.  We were able to cut greens, tees and fairways, as well as, clean out and rake bunkers.  We continued course clean-up and some sod work around #5 and #18 green banks. mowing #16 fairway sod work around #5 greenside  bunker completed sod behind #18 green is ready for sod completed sod  This week we will continue course clean-up work and mulching landscape beds.
