April Photo Montage Video

Course clean-up, landscape bed preparation, driving range renovation, drainage projects and aerification have kept us plenty busy this month.  Below are some of my favorite photos.

I Love It...

...when a plan comes together.  A big thanks to the crew for a job well done on greens aerification.  It was truly a team effort as many rearranged their schedules to stay late and work in less than favorable circumstances. Overcast, wet, and cold conditions prohibited the sand from properly drying.  As a result, it made it extremely difficult to work the sand into the aerification holes.  With the unfavorable weather, we altered our methodology and still managed to fill the holes to our satisfaction. Aerification Benefits: - healthier plants with deeper roots - faster, firmer putting surfaces - increased water and oxygen infiltration Aerification Stats: - 58 tons of sand used and over 4.5 million holes created - 236,842 holes created per green - 6,105 pounds of sand per green used to fill the holes what 5 tons of sand looks like on #16 green deep tine aerification of #16 green 11" deep hole created from soil reli...

Aerification Postponed

.75" of rain last night and more rain predicted today has postponed aerification until tomorrow and Wednesday.  Tomorrow, the front nine will be open as we aerify the back nine.  Wednesday, the back nine will be open as we aerify the front nine.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

Beautiful Day!

What a great day....we don't get many 70°F days in April.  The turf seemed to enjoy the warm up as much as we did.  Below are a few photos from today. #5 #8 #12 #16

Driving Range Update

I wanted to give a quick update on the driving range renovation.  After a few days of sun and temperatures in the 60's, the turf on the tee is greening up and starting to wake up from its winter dormancy.  We overseeded the thin areas last Monday and are seeing some germination.  We are also starting to see some germination in the landing area as well. looking back towards the clubhouse from the back of the landing area new seedlings in the landing area Delays due to the weather last fall and the wet spring have pushed the target opening date to the first week in June.  This target date is completely based on what kind of weather we receive during the grow-in process.  Thanks for your patience, we will get the range open as soon as we can.

Greening Up

The warmer temperatures this week felt much more like spring.  I would expect the turf to really start greening up next week as the soil temperatures continue to warm. #12 green Spring is an extremely busy time on the golf course.  The number of tasks to complete in preparing the golf course far exceed our personnel. This time of year we take what Mother Nature gives us.  Often times, this means juggling many different tasks.  This week we: mowed greens, tees, and fairways sprayed greens  started irrigation system opened golf course bathrooms put out golf course accessories  overseeded driving range tee mulched landscape beds around the clubhouse continued golf course clean-up landscape bed next to #1 tee mulched Javier cleaning up sticks on #16 Weather permitting, spring aerification of the greens will occur April 20-21.  This will allow for enough time for the greens to heal in before the start of men's league.

Greens are Open

Yesterday we were able to open the greens for play.  Please check with the pro shop for start times and cart availability which are changing daily due to the fluctuating weather. #13 green
