Hawks

If you remember back about 5 years ago, a family of hawks built a nest in one of the oak trees just west of #6 tee.  Year after year the hawks have returned to the nest increasing the size of their family.  This week Brendan took a great photo of one of the baby hawks.

Some interesting facts you may not of known about Red-tailed Hawks:

- Mated pairs are monogamous and stay together for life.
- Red tails usually lay one to four eggs per year.
- The hawks usually leave the nest about 45 days after hatching.
- Red-tailed Hawks generally hold a territory of 1.5-2 square miles.
- Hawks have a varied diet including small mammals and reptiles.
- The average lifespan of a hawk is about 12 years.
