Hawks

If you remember back about 5 years ago, a family of hawks built a nest in one of the oak trees just west of #6 tee.  Year after year the hawks have returned to the nest increasing the size of their family.  This week Brendan took a great photo of one of the baby hawks. A young Red-tailed Hawk in the nest Some interesting facts you may not of known about Red-tailed Hawks: - Mated pairs are monogamous and stay together for life. - Red tails usually lay one to four eggs per year. - The hawks usually leave the nest about 45 days after hatching. - Red-tailed Hawks generally hold a territory of 1.5-2 square miles. - Hawks have a varied diet including small mammals and reptiles. - The average lifespan of a hawk is about 12 years.

Back to Normal

With all of the greens open our daily routine is getting back to normal.  This spring was difficult as multiple greens had to be treated individually due to winter damage.  This week however, we were back to normal maintenance practices on all of the greens.  They all received a verticut, topdressing, and their weekly spray.  As the new plants mature and get stronger, we will be able to push the greens more aggressively for firmness and speed.
