Spring is Here

The golf season is off to a hectic start.  Golf course clean-up has been extremely productive thanks to the Wiedenmann.  We were able to cut and spray greens this week for the first time this year.  We were also able to clean out bunkers and rake them this week.  Additionally, we started cleaning out ornamental beds and mulching.   The new net behind #7 green has been installed.  We plan on completing the finish grade around it next week. new net behind #7 green On the agenda next week: mowing tees and fairways for the first time, more bunker work, and continued ornamental bed work.

Course Conditions

The golf course is drying out nicely now that all of the snow has melted.  I'm pleased to report the turf came through winter beautifully.   We have been busy working on course clean-up.  The Wiedenmann fairway verticutter that was purchased last fall also serves as a vacuum.  It has been integral this spring in our clean-up process and has dramatically improved our efficiency.

March Update

I was able to walk the golf course this morning.  Most of the snow has melted and the turf looks extremely healthy.  The extended forecast looks nice next week.  It looks like we will see temperatures in the 60's and rain, which will melt the rest of the snow and push any remaining frost out of the ground. We will open the greens as soon as they are ready.  In the meantime, please play to the temporary flags.  Traffic on the greens at this time can damage them and delay out opening date.  Thank you for your cooperation. #3 green #4 green #17 green #14 green #18 green #9 green #1 green

A Great Start to the Year

It has been a busy start to the year.  Favorable ground conditions have allowed us to complete our tree pruning and removals this winter.  I'm pleased with what we've able to accomplish, as we've removed several hazardous, dead, and declining trees.   tree company removing dead oak #10 hollow oak removed from #6 hollow oak removed from #10 hazardous locust removed from #3 hollow oak removed from #5 hollow hickory removed from #10 over 35 dump loads of stump grindings hauled
