April Update

The greens are healing great from aerification. After 8 days of recovery, you can hardly see the aerification holes. #2 green We were able to complete construction of the forward tee on #1.  I am extremely pleased with how it turned out and I think it will be a nice addition to the property.  We still need to finish the landscape portion of the project, but that should be completed in the near future. shaping the new tee working on finish grade bluegrass sod in place around the new tee finished tee complex This week we were also able to add drainage to the middle fairway bunker at the short range. This was a good week to cross two big projects off the list. digging the drainage trench drain tile and pea gravel installed ready to put the sod back sod back in place looking good

We successfully aerified greens Monday and Tuesday.  Although that made for two longer days, the weather cooperated and we were able to fill the 4.8 million holes with 30 tons of sand. aerifying #9 green aerifying #11 green blowing sand into the holes on #9 green rolling #6 green finished product on #8 green

Looking Good

It was another good week of golf course clean-up.  Drier conditions allowed us to get into some areas we previously had not been able to.  We have a handful of out of play areas left and should be done by the end of next week.   The turf is starting to green up and grow.  We cut greens, collars, approaches, tees, and fairways multiple times this week.  Other accomplishments this week: - pressurized irrigation system - opened course bath rooms - placed tee markers, ball washers, and coolers - mowed driving range tee and fairway - added new sand to 6 bunkers on the short range We also started construction of a new forward tee on #1.  The tee will be larger than the existing one and will provide better playability.  We will also be landscaping around the tee which will provide improved aesthetic value.  I will post pictures next week as we progress through the project. It looks like the weather will cooperate early in the week...

A Wet Start to 2017

In the first 97 days of the year and we have received 11" of rain.  Needless to say, it has been a great deal of water for the golf course to absorb.  The interesting point to note, regarding the 11" of rain, is that 3.5" has come in the last 14 days. #5 fairway #7 rough We were able to open up the back nine for carts last Sunday.  Currently, most of the routes we were able to maneuver carts through are under water.  At this point, cart availability for this weekend will be unlikely.  I will continue to assess conditions, but the golf course will have to dry out significantly over the next two days for carts on Sunday. Thank you for your understanding.  The forecast looks pretty good next week, perhaps we are turning a corner.

April Update

This week we continued with course clean-up.  We are about 1/3 of the way through.  It has been a tedious task due to the volume of debris and wet conditions. raking on the west side of #2 fairway Monday, we repaired the last of the bunker drain lines that need to be fixed.  Tuesday and Wednesday we started filling bunkers that were low in sand.  We have prioritized the bunkers that need additional sand and will be filling them as time allows this spring. cleaning out bunker on #2  filling #2 with additional sand raking #2 after a long day of spreading sand
